Fluxx Kid’s Scooter Review + Giveaway!

Disclosure: I was provided with product to facilitate this post. (All posts may contain affiliate links and/or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

Update: The winner is Crystal! Thanks to all who entered!

If you are anything like our family, we have been spending a lot of time outdoors these past few months. It has been so nice to walk while the boys ride their bikes and scooters. I am always looking for ways to get the boys out of the house and to be more active, so when the folks at Fluxx Scooters asked me if I would be interested in reviewing a couple of their scooters for Brady I was so excited to jump at the opportunity! We were sent the Fluxx SSX Pro Stunt Scooter in Green, and the Fluxx DuoMini 2-in-1 Kick Scooter with Foldable and Removable Seat in Blue. We also received an awesome helmet, theGotrax Kids Bike Helmet, 2 in 1 Full Face Multi-Sport Helmet. Brady absolutely loves this helmet!

The Fluxx SSX Pro Stunt Scooter lets you ride like a pro! Recommended for kids ages 8 years and up, this scooter is lightweight and easy to handle and maneuver. This is very helpful for kids to develop riding skills and makes it easier to get progression. In addition, this is a smooth running scooter that is not only safe but also continue their enthusiasm for this trick’s sport. The two big wheels on the front help to keep the kids safe, and it has a lean-to-steer mechanism which helps to build balance skills at an early age. The ABEC-9 bearings are much smoother and quieter than most of sticky bearings, so kids can easily control the scooter. Assembly is super easy. Tighten 3 bolts only, then you’re ready to go! This scooter is available in several color options. We were sent the green one and I just love how vibrant it is!

The Fluxx DuoMini 2-in-1 Kick Scooter with Foldable and Removable Seat is a great scooter for kids ages 2-8 years old. We particularly love the 2-in-1 feature of this scooter and that young kids can sit down as they glide, and then move up to scoot mode as they grow up and gain more balance. Such a great learning tool! The scooter also has a foldable/removable seat! Kids can sit down and parent can push them forward. What’s more, you can easily fold the handlebar within 3 seconds. Talk about perfect portability! I personally feel that this is the perfect scooter for kids just starting out. The rustproof aluminum alloy T-bar tube has 3 adjustable height options (24.4/28.3/31.5 inch), and the rubber handle grips are comfortable and wick sweat. The wide brake is durable and made of stainless-steel and ABS. Brady has so much fun cruising along on the Fluxx DuoMini 2-in-1! Choose from Pink, Purple or Teal.

No scooter ride is complete without the perfect helmet! Brady loves his new Gotrax Kids Bike Helmet! This helmet is actually a CPSC Certified full face helmet for kids that provides maximum protection, especially to protect the cervical spine. And you can easily detach the face guard to change the look and improve ventilation. The Kids Helmet adjusts from 20 – 22 inches (52-56 cm) which fits for kids age of 3-12 years old. It features a dual adjustable system, quick release buckle straps, and adjustment rotation wheel for comfortable wearing. Available in 4 color combinations, this versatile kids helmet is perfect for Bicycle, Scooters, Skateboards, Hover boards, Roller Skating, or any Activity that requires head protection. I highly recommend this helmet for your kiddos! Brady loves his!

A huge thanks to Fluxx and GoTrax for sending us these items!

DIY: Kid’s Homemade Slime Recipe

(All posts may contain affiliate links and/or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

Are the kiddos driving you crazy? One thing that you can do to occupy their time is to make homemade slime! I recently did this with Brady and we had a blast! This recipe is super easy and literally takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.

Slime Ingredients:

8oz. of Glue. (I used 8oz. of  Elmer’s Glue-All – I would suggest buying a big container like this one to have it on hand)

1 TBSP of Baking soda

Your choice of food coloring

2 TBSP of Contact solution

Optional: You can add beads, glitter and any other fun items that you wish! Look HERE for some fun ideas.

Slime Directions:

Place the 8oz. of glue into a bowl.

Add the baking soda and mix together.

Add food coloring until it is the desired color you prefer.

Add in the contact solution.

Mix together until a ball forms and the mixture becomes harder. The trick here is to keep adding contact solution if the slime is still too sticky to the touch. This cannot be any easier to prepare and it is very budget-friendly too!

Enjoy! Brady and I had so much fun making this!

My Sweet Savings’ 2019 Printable School Supply Price Point List + Tips for Back to School Shopping

(All posts may contain affiliate links or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

If you have not already started your back to school shopping for the kiddos, now is the time to do so! We are starting to see some really great sales, and I am going to do my best to keep you posted on the best deals that I see at many of the stores.

While it may be more challenging these days to find good deals on school supplies, there are still ways that it can be done.

Here are a few tips to help as you plan your back to school shopping:

  • Start your shopping early and have a plan of action. Have the kid’s back to school list handy and know exactly what items that you are looking for. You don’t want to be shopping for items the week for school starts. Shopping early not only alleviates stress, but it allows you to score the best deals!
  • Shop at several stores to get the most bang for your buck. I often find that if you spend your entire budget at one store, you will end up spending more than you had originally planned. This does require some time and effort, but it is worth it! Purchase the newspaper on Sunday and see what stores have the best deals for the items on your kids’ school supply list and make a plan of action from there.
  • Be aware of limits on products. Many stores will limit the amount of products that you can purchase if there a special discount on that item. For example, you may only be able to purchase 5 notebooks for $0.10 each per person. Plan to take several people with you if you need more than the required limit.
  • Coupons are still alive and well! I have noticed several coupons both online and paper for school supply items. Don’t be afraid to utilize those to help you maximize your budget even more! For example, there was coupon in the newspaper this past Sunday for $1.50 off 2 BIC Stationery products. BIC Pens are priced around $1 at most stores so this coupon will get you 2 packs of pens for just $0.50! And, $0.25 per package of pens is definitely a stock up price and under my price point per package! (please keep in mind that most coupons now have a limit on them)
  • Have a product swap with friends. You may be surprised of the items that you have laying around the house that are brand new school supplies. Get your friends together and see what they have. You could save a few dollars and have a fun time doing it!
  • Thrift Stores– You can find some great hidden gems at your local thrift store! I have seen items with the tags still attached for a fraction of the price that you would pay at your local store.
  • School clothes closet sales. Check to see if your kid’s school has a closet sale of uniforms and other items that have been left behind. I just bought my boys’ uniform shirts and jackets (their school has a required logo shirt) that were in like-new condition for only $5 each!
  • Stack the savings! This is probably one of my biggest tips for ways that you can save on school supplies. When you stack store promotional offers and coupons with discounts and rewards you can save BIG! And, don’t forget at places like Target you will save an extra 5% off when you use your Target REDcard! If you don’t have a Target REDcard, consider shopping with a credit card that will earn you cash back or points.
  •  Know the price points of school supplies and what you should be paying for those items. I have put together a list below of my price points for school supplies. You may be able to find these items even cheaper than I have posted. If you do, stock up! You can click on the image below or print the list HERE and keep it with you for when you are shopping!

Code Ninjas Summer Camps: Where Your Kids Become Coding Ninjas!

Code Ninjas partners with families to provide children with a safe and encouraging environment to gain the skills they need for a brighter future. While this post is sponsored, all opinions are my own. Please see my disclosure policy)

Summer Break. Ahhh…My boys have officially been out of school now for over one week, and I have already heard those dreaded words, “I’m bored!” For me, summer break can actually be a lot of work as I have to make sure that I keep the boys busy with activities. We joined our local YMCA, will be doing a lot of reading, bowling, watching movies and visiting friends. Of course, the boys also love to play on the computer with their favorite video games. While I do like to limit the amount of time that they spend on the computer each day, some of the games can actually be a great learning experience for them!

This summer, my boys are going to have the time of their life as they learn to spark their imagination all by building their very own video games! Thanks to Code Ninjas Summer Camps, the boys will build their favorite computer games from the ground up all combined with the power of coding!

What is Code Ninjas?

We all know that kids love technology, games, and having fun with friends. Code Ninjas provides an engaging game-based curriculum that teaches teamwork, logic, math, and problem solving so kids will gain vital skills while having a blast! As a parent, it is important to me that my children not only have fun during the summer but that I am giving them the best future possible and that they are learning! Code Ninjas sounds like a win-win to me!  😉

Technology is such an amazing thing isn’t it? When I was in college over 20 years ago, I remember my hubby and I sending emails back and forth to each other through AOL just like on the movie, “You’ve Got Mail!” Texting was not even heard of, and the only phone that I had was one of those older flip phones. Boy, things have come a long way! My boys know more about electronics now than me!  😆 Code Ninjas believes that there’s never been a more exciting time to advance our culture – starting with our youngest ones. Every kid deserves the chance to unlock their innate, unlimited capacity to learn.

Whether or not they pursue coding as a career, Code Ninjas wants to provide kids with skills that will help them pursue their dreams. I love that they will also teach our children to learn how to think and problem solve. In fact, that is one of the core values of Code Ninjas!

Do you think that your kiddos would benefit from a Summer Camp at Code Ninjas?

Full Day Summer Camps are available Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.
