HelloFresh Review: Fresh Healthy Meals Delivered Right to Your Door

Disclosure: I was provided with a Hello Fresh Family box in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Please see my disclosure policy)

I recently had the opportunity to review HelloFresh. Out of all of the meal delivery services that I have tried, this has been a family favorite. We opted for the Family Plan which provides quick, healthy and easy meals that the entire family is sure to love! With the Family Plan, you can choose either 2 or 3 recipes to be delivered. I was sent the 3 recipe box which included crave-worthy cranberry pork with pecan couscous and zucchini, chicken sausage pizzas and balsamic meatloaf with sweet potato mash & green beans. All 3 of these dishes were winners with my family but we especially loved the chicken sausage pizzas!

Why Choose HelloFresh?

To begin with, everything is very fresh when it arrives. Even the herbs which are in their own little containers look like you just purchased them at the grocery store. Not only was I impressed with the freshness of the ingredients, but with the quality as well. Hello Fresh uses only the best! Every meal is prepped in its own brown paper bag that has all of the ingredients for your meals inside. In addition, each meal has its own meal prep card that includes step-by-step instructions for each meal.

You will first need to decide which HelloFresh meal plan is best for you and your family. Choose from Classic, Veggie or the Family plan.

The Classic Plan offers the widest variety of meat, fish, and seasonal produce. You can choose between 2 and 4 people and receive 3 meals. How many meals that you choose will determine the price of your plan.

The Veggie Plan is a great option for vegetarians. This plan offers Vegetarian recipes with plant-based proteins, grains, and seasonal produce. Choose between 2-4 people and receive 3 meals. Once again, how many meals that you choose will determine the price of your plan.

Lastly, the Family Plan, which I chose, provides quick and easy meals with all the YUM-worthy flavor the whole family loves. This plan serves 4 people and you can decide between 2-3 recipes.

One of the things that I love most about Hello Fresh is the wide variety of menu options. Hello Fresh has a dedicated team of chefs who work alongside dietitians to create 15 new recipes each week. They select your meals based on your preferences but also give you the flexibility to select meals from your weekly menu. How awesome is that? I just love the flexibility that this service provides!

How would you like to try HelloFresh for yourself? GO HERE and use my code HEATHERB30 to save $30 off your first box! That is a huge discount! Please let me know what plan you try and how you like it. I honestly believe that you will love this option to get quick and healthy meals on the table as much as I do!

Stay tuned as HelloFresh will be featured in my 2017 Holiday Gift Guide!

Brown Sugar and Balsamic Glazed Pork Chops #SundaySupper

(All posts may contain affiliate links or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

We love pork chops in our house, but it can sometimes be challenging fInding new ways to prepare them. I was so excited to have the opportunity to come up with a new recipe that combines sweet and sour flours into one perfect bite. Brown Sugar and Balsamic Glazed Pork Chops are sure to be your family’s new favorite! My boys licked their plates clean and my husband told me that these were the best pork chops he had ever eaten. I’d say they are a winner!

This week the #SundaySupper Tastemakers are bringing you Easy Pork Chop recipes that will make your mouth water! A big thank you goes out to our amazing host Shelby from Grumpy’s Honeybunch who helped to make this event happen!

Ingredients:

4 large size boneless pork chops

1/4 cup balsamic glaze (You can make your own, but I found the most delicious pre-made variety at the store that I have been loving)

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon oregano

1/2 teaspoon mediterranean spiced sea salt

2 cloves minced garlic

salt/pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

2. Add the 2 tablespoons of butter to an oven safe skillet and let it melt. Add the pork chops and let them brown on both sides. Be sure to season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper as you turn them to sear.

3. Place the pork chops in the oven and let them cook for around 10 minutes.

4. While the pork chops are cooking you can prepare your glaze. Add your prepared balsamic mixture, brown sugar, honey, oregano, minced garlic, pinch of pepper (you could even use pepper flakes if you like really spicy) and mediterranean spiced sea salt to a bowl and mix well. The mixture should be nice and thick.

5. Start spooning your prepared glaze onto to the chops during the remainder of the cooking process. You can do this as many times as you prefer. I would suggest at least 2 times for a delicious flavor and to ensure that the garlic in the glaze is cooked.

6. Continue cooking the pork chops until they are completely cooked through. You can check with a meat thermometer to make sure that your chops are at least 145 degrees F.

7. Serve with your favorite veggies or sides and enjoy! These are so moist and delicious!

Tijuana Flats: Limited Time Turkey Chorizo Offerings + Giveaway!

Disclosure: As part of the Tampa Bay Bloggers, I was given the opportunity for a blogger tasting at Tijuana Flats. I am also being provided with a gift card for sharing my honest opinion.

I absolutely love Mexican food and could seriously eat it every day! With that being said, one of my go-to favorites when dining out is definitely Tijuana Flats. I love how everything is so fresh and they can customize most anything on their menu to your liking which is also a huge plus to me! Every Tijuana Flats meal is MADE TO ORDER with the freshest ingredients that are prepped the same day you enjoy them.

For a limited time, Tijuana Flats is offering their Turkey Chorizo as an option in any of their entrees. If you have not tried the Turkey Chorizo, you are totally missing out! This is ground turkey mixed with chorizo and it makes for one tasty entree! The flavor is out of this world!

One of the turkey chorizo items that you must try is the Hangover Burrito. I had the opportunity this week to head over to my local Tijuana Flats in Clearwater, Fl where manager Josh hooked me up with this deliciousness! The Hangover Burrito is a HUGE tortilla (choose between flour or wheat) that is filled with Turkey Chorizo, fried egg, jalapenos, cheese and potatoes. It is a party in your mouth! The flavor is unlike anything you have ever had and it will keep you wanting to go back for more! This is only available for a limited time though so head on over to your local Tijuana Flats today to give it a try!

Manager Josh was so gracious to me and he made sure that I didn’t leave hungry! Before the Hangover burrito was served, he brought the Tijuana Trio to the table. If you are not familiar with this it is chips with salsa, queso, and guacamole. I have to tell you the Turkey Chorizo Queso is Out. Of. This World! I could literally sit and eat this all day! The Turkey Chorizo mixed with the melted cheese is like liquid gold in your mouth! We tried the regular beef queso as well, but my favorite was by far the turkey chorizo queso. The seasonings are amazing!

Not only did we try the Hangover Burrito and Tijuana Flats Trio, but Josh also let us try the Turkey Chorizo Tostados and the Blackened Chicken Norrito Bowl.

The Turkey Chorizo Tostados were a big hit with my 5 year old son Brady! These are lightly fried corn tortillas, refried beans, melted cheese, choice of filling, toppings, guacamole & choice of ranch, salsa, avocado ranch or Southwest citrus vinaigrette. Try it, you will love it!

The Norrito Bowl is my go-to item when I visit Tijuana Flats. I love that it is all the goodness of a burrito but in a bowl; hence the title, Norrito Bowl. No + Burrito = Norrito. Light salsa-based rice, black beans, cheese, toppings, guacamole. Served in a bowl with choice of filling.

No meal is complete without dessert, right? Josh brought us the Cookie Dough Flautas to enjoy. These are definitely drool-worthy! If you love cookie dough, this is your dessert! The Cookie Dough Flauta is Chocolate chip cookie dough loaded into a flour tortilla, lightly fried & topped with powdered sugar. Served with a side of chocolate syrup. How can you go wrong with that deliciousness?

Thank you so much to Josh and his crew at the Clearwater, FL location for their wonderful hospitality to me, my mom and son Brady. We had such a great time and the food was all amazing. We even brought so much food home! I can’t wait to go back and have more delicious and fresh Tex-Mex!

I also wanted to mention that if you are out and about this Saturday and Sunday February 18th & 19th, Tijuana Flats is offering $5 Turkey Entrées! Choose any turkey entree with their delicious Turkey Chorizo as a filling for only $5! This includes the yummy Hangover Burrito! You can’t beat $5 bucks!

Mini Caprese Bites With Balsamic Drizzle #SundaySupper

(All posts may contain affiliate links or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

One of my favorite appetizers that I turn to again and again when we dine out is Caprese Salad! There is something to be said for the ooey gooey mozarella paired with the sweet tomato, basil and balsamic glaze! Caprese Salad servings can sometimes be on the larger side, so wouldn’t it be fun to make them into small bites that you can pop into your mouth when you are having a party or social function?

This week the #SundaySupper Tastemakers are bringing you some delicious Fancy Appetizers that will be perfect for your next party or social function. A big thank you goes out to our amazing host Wendy of Wholistic Woman who helped to make this event happen!

This past Christmas Eve I was at my friend Charity’s house and we made these Mini Caprese Bites With Balsamic Drizzle that are to die for! They are the perfect taste of a Caprese Salad but in bite size. Shhh….don’t tell anyone, but I can down 5-6 of these in 1 sitting. Oh, and did I mention that they are guilt-free eating? How can you wrong with Basil, Tomato, Mozarella and Balsamic?

Not only are these Mini Caprese Bites With Balsamic Drizzle delicious, they are also super easy to make! You are sure to reach for this Fancy Appetizer again and again! People will think that you slaved over this fancy appetizer all day long, but you can whip it up in no time flat!

Ingredients:

Cherry Tomatoes

Fresh Basil

Mozzarella Balls (I found these in the specialty case at my local grocery store)

Balsamic Glaze (you can make your own, but I found the most delicious pre-made variety)

Salt/Pepper to Taste (optional)

Toothpicks

Directions:

Take the Cherry tomatoes and cut off the bottom to form a “foot” so that they can stand up on their own. Take a mozzarella ball and place on top of the tomato followed by a fresh basil leaf. After you have assembled the plate with all of the bites, drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top. You may also sprinkle with salt and pepper if you prefer. Serve and enjoy!

Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

(All posts may contain affiliate links or sponsored content. Please see my disclosure policy)

We absolutely love Chinese food. BUT, it can be so fattening and many times you don’t know what ingredients are being used when it is prepared. Also, since I am gluten free, I cannot eat many of the Chinese dishes that are available in the traditional Chinese restaurants these days. Needless to say, eating out a Chinese restaurant for me can be quite challenging! When I came across this recipe for Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry I was so excited! I have made some modifications to my liking, but it is so delicious! We just love this! I served it over cauliflower rice for myself and Jasmine rice for the boys.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs thin angus cut beef round steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef stock
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1-2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 oz mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb broccoli florets
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Slice the angus steak into 1/4 inch thin strips.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the fish sauce, beef stock, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.
  3. Add the steak to the bowl and mix until all pieces are coated. Set aside. Let marinate for an hour. I would even go longer if you have the time to do so to give the meat extra flavor.
  4. While the meat is marinating, clean and trim the broccoli and slice the mushrooms so that they are ready to go.
  5. Heat a wok (or large skillet) over high heat. Add the oil to the pan.
  6. Once the pan is hot, add the broccoli, coating it in the oil and stir frying for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove the beef from the marinade and add to the hot pan. Stir fry 2-3 minutes.
  8. Pour the sauce in the pan and add the mushrooms.
  9. Continue stir frying the mixture over high heat until the meat is cooked through and the sauce has reduced and thickened.
  10. Serve the mixture over rice or cauliflower rice and enjoy! This is absolutely so delicious and it is sure to be a new favorite on your menu rotation!

This recipe has been adapted from Peace Love and Low Carb.
