I was given the option to choose between the Classic menu and the Family menu. I love that Sun Basket is continually bringing their customers new menu options on a weekly basis so you will get to choose from a wide array of meals. I chose 3 meals from the Classic menu which included: Greek shrimp with tomatoes, feta and orzo, Salmon with lemon-oregano sauce and artichoke-fregola pilaf and Gingered turkey meatballs in lemongrass broth with cauliflower “rice”.
When they meals arrived at my doorstep they were in a sturdy cardboard box. I just love how cute the box was! Definitely eye-catching. I just love getting these boxes at my door. It feels like Christmas!
When I opened the box, I was amazed at just how cold all of the items were. I love that they placed the meats nestled under the ice packs to ensure that they would stay cold. On the very top was a catalog that featured my recipes and how to prepare them. Under that were brown paper bags that were labeled for each meal. Each brown paper bag has the ingredients that you will need for each of the meals. I love this as it keeps all of the ingredients together and you know exactly what items to use for each meal.
I cannot even begin to tell you how delicious that these meals were. The thing that really stands out to me with me with Sun Basket is freshness and quality of products. Each meal had it’s own unique qualities that made it just as delicious as the next. My entire family loved each of the meals, and cleaned their plates. That is always a plus with this momma! My favorite meal was the Gingered turkey meatballs in lemongrass broth with cauliflower “rice”. Yum!
Greek shrimp with tomatoes, feta and orzo– Cheese and seafood don’t always play well together, but this iconic Greek dish is an exception—feta loves shrimp! This was amazing and so very easy to prepare. I love all of the fresh herbs that help to make every bite better than the next.
Salmon with lemon-oregano sauce and artichoke-fregola pilaf– My son Drew who loves salmon, was super excited for this meal! Toasted pearls of this Sardinian pasta add nutty flavor to a Mediterranean-inspired pilaf that’s perfect with pan-roasted salmon. I have never had fregola before, so this was a real treat. It is a very nutty grain that is packed full of flavor. The olives and artichokes pack a delicious punch in every bite.
Gingered turkey meatballs in lemongrass broth with cauliflower “rice”– This meal was my favorite! It was beyond delicious. In fact, I am drooling as I type this and look at the picture! Paleo and perfect for entertaining, the gingered turkey meatballs feature signature Sun Basket lemongrass paste and filling cauliflower “rice.” The flavor profile in this dish is a party in your mouth. The lemongrass with the ginger is such a great marriage, and the cauliflower “rice” will definitely make you think that you are eating real rice. The lemongrass paste used in this dish is amazing. Sun Basket has their own signature house-made sauces and spice blends that help to deliver big flavor and it shows!
