Valspar Championship 2017 Recap

Disclosure: I attended a VIP Blogger luncheon and received tickets to this event for free in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Even though I am not a golfer, I live in a house filled with guys who love to watch the sport. Each year when the Valspar Championship comes to beautiful Innisbrook Resort, they set aside one day to attend. Not only did my guys attend the event this year, but I was privileged to attend a #FoodieFriday blogging event during Championship Week.

This was actually my first time at Innisbrook Resort, and I was enamored with just how beautiful and big everything is. The buildings and golf course are in impecable shape and that is due in part to the remarkable and knowledgeable staff that Innisbrook boasts.

When we arrived at Inverness Hall, we were greeted by Matt Owen, Lauren Smith, Jomary Jiminez and Jessica Fox. These gracious folks either work with Innisbrook or are with the PR team that assists Innisbrook with their events. They hosted us throughout the afternoon and were so kind and professional to each of us.

We started our afternoon by heading to the new Grape and Grain Emporium for a Meet and Greet and Cooking Demo with celebrity chef Ming Tsai. When we arrived, he was cooking up Red Roast Duck Potstickers. Yum! Chef Tsai is so friendly and down-to-earth. He took the time to speak with each of us and take photos.

I am so very impressed with Chef Ming Tsai’s heart. He spoke with us in depth of how he has partnered with Family Reach, an organization that is a financial lifeline for those families fighting cancer as an Executive Chef Ambassador. Did you know that cancer is the number one reason for bankruptcy in the United States? I had no idea. For over two decades, Family Reach has been helping families with cancer manage the overwhelming financial and emotional barriers of the disease. Working in close collaboration with a network of more than 200 hospitals and cancer centers nationwide, Family Reach provides immediate financial assistance, education and outreach to qualified families in need. This is such a wonderful organization and I love what they do! You can see more about Family Reach and what they do to bless others HERE.

After we finished with Chef Tsai, we walked around to observe the tournament for a few minutes before heading over to the Market Salamander Grille for lunch. I love all of the cute touches to detail in every area of the property during the tournament! When we arrived at the Market Salamander Grille, we were greeted by Innisbrook Golf & Spa Resort’s new chef, Executive Chef Thomas McKinney-Stehr.

Oh my goodness, Chef prepared quite the spread for us! Everything from Blackberry bourbon fizz, Colossal onion rings, Tuscan risotto fritters, chicken quesadillas, Carolina pork flatbread, Margherita flatbread, Bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp, Chicken wings and Kona crusted grilled lollipop lamb champs. The food was beyond amazing! One of the things that I love about Innisbrook Resort is that their restaurants are open to the public. Come and enjoy a delicious brunch, lunch or dinner anytime! I noticed that they have lots of wonderful activities for the family and Easter Brunch or Dinner for Easter weekend April 14-16, so you may want to check that out! I can’t wait for hubby and I to go back for a date night or brunch!

At the end of our lunch we were greeted by American businesswoman and CEO of Salamander Hotels and Resorts, Sheila Johnson. What a distinguished lady and businesswoman! I am so thankful for the amazing opportunity to attend this event and to network with some amazing influencers from our area! Innisbrook is truly a remarkable place and I am looking forward to returning! Thank you to the wonderful folks at Innisbrook for their amazing hospitality to us!

On Saturday, my husband and son Drew went back to the Valspar Championship for the day. They look forward to this every year and had a blast! They followed around many of the players on the course and had great father/son time! The Valspar Championship is definitely an event that you need to put on your calendar for next year! The Pre-Move Day Checklist

So, the big day is finally here! Yep, after months of planning and a LOT of stress, you are finally moving out of your old house and into your shiny new one. With the process being as difficult as it often is, you are probably breathing a sigh of relief that the whole thing is coming to a close. But remember that it’s not over until the fat lady sings – you still have a day to go before you turn the key in your new place, and this day is more important than you might think. There are plenty of specific things you need to go the day before you move – and even if you think you’re the most organized you’ve ever been in your life, you are bound to forget something! Here’s a foolproof checklist for that all important last day before you move.

Packing– Yep, it goes without saying, but make sure you have everything packed and organized within an inch of its life. The golden rule is to leave any ‘essentials’ until last – so phone chargers, your children’s favorite toys, toiletries, etc. Ensure that you have plenty of boxes – more than you need, in fact. The last thing you need on moving day is being caught short and having to carry the last of your possessions into the van one by one! Make a point of hiring moving companies who will be able to help you dismantle certain pieces of furniture – if you don’t, you’re on your own with that one. Don’t forget any other fixtures such as curtains or lamps, if you intend to take them with you. Disconnecting your electronics before you leave is also very important, and you will need to defrost the fridge freezer too.

Create a ‘moving day’ package– When the big day arrives, you are going to need to have certain items to hand. Once everything is packed up there’s no going back. So make sure you have all the things you need within easy reach to make the day go as smoothly as possible. These could be toys for your children, as they will get easily bored or even emotional on moving day. You may also need high-energy snacks available – after all, moving day doesn’t tend to leave much time for meals!

Planning the route– If you are moving towns or even states, you need to be fully prepared for a lengthy journey. Make sure your removal company knows exactly where they’re going – you may decide that you drive together, one following the other, so you guarantee that you end up with everything you need all at once. Check your satellite navigation system the night before and make sure it’s fully charged up, and the same goes for your cell phone. You never know what can happen on move day, so you will need to be contactable at all times. With any luck the day should go without a hitch, but it is always better to be prepared.

In the PGA TOUR, the Valspar Championship is the part of the Tour known as “Most Colorful PGA TOUR Tournament in the World.” The Valspar Championship goes through March 12 and both golfers and non-golfers alike can join in all of the exciting events that make the tournament a blast for every member of the family! In fact, did you know that kids 15 and under are free? The weather is gorgeous here in Florida right now so pack up the entire family and head out for a fun-filled day!

Leave dad on the championship golf course to watch all of the action, while you and the kiddos enjoy fun activities and delicious food! Product Review: Ardenne Farm Gluten-Free Baking Mixes

It can sometimes be challenging to find great tasting gluten-free boxed baking mixes. I have tried several different brands but the ones from Ardenne Farm are my absolute favorite! I have tried their chocolate chip cookie mix, pancake & waffle mix and brownie mix and all of the products were phenomenal! Recently, I was given the opportunity to review their Oatmeal Cookie mix and Cinnamon Crunch Muffin and Crumb Cake. I cannot begin to tell you how delicious that these products are. Even my boys and husband (who are not gluten-free) devoured every last bit of the items! They are so delicious! Make the products for your family and friends and don’t tell that they are gluten-free. They will never know! Ardenne Farm is now my go-to company for baking mixes! You will be hooked too, I promise! 

The Ardenne Farm Cinnamon Crunch Muffin and Crumb Cake is to die for! This mix makes delicate and tender cinnamon muffins or crumb cake with crunchy cinnamon streusel topping made from turbinado sugar. I chose to make the muffins and we thought that they were some of the best muffins ever! From the photo above you can see just how beautiful they bake in the oven!

I also loved the Oatmeal Cookie Mix and it is one of Ardenne Farms most popular items. This mix makes an old-fashioned thick and chewy cookie made with gluten free oats and brown sugar. I added chocolate chips to half of the batch. Yum! So chewy and delicious just like an oatmeall cookie should be!
