Did you know that Earl of Sandwich, is the inventor of the sandwich? Back in 1762, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, came up with the ingenious idea of putting meat between two slices of bread. Now, 250 years later, the current 11th Earl and the rest of the Sandwich family remain passionate about the world’s most popular quick food that carries their name. How totally cool is that?
Joining forces with entrepreneur Robert Earl, the first Earl of Sandwich restaurant opened in Orlando, FL at Downtown Disney in 2004. Currently, there are Earl of Sandwich restaurants in the US, in markets such as New York, Southern California, Anaheim, Philadelphia, Detroit, Texas, Florida and Georgia as well as internationally in Paris, the United Kingdom and Qatar. The extensive menu at Earl of Sandwich pays tribute to the art of sandwiches with fresh-baked artisan bread and the finest ingredients for its hot sandwiches, hand-tossed salads, wraps, pizza breads and freshly baked desserts.
I am super excited to let you know that Earl of Sandwich is now inside the Food Court at International Plaza in Tampa! My family and I had the opportunity to head over there last week to sample some of the delicious items on the menu. It is now one of our new favorites! The food is so fresh and delicious. Manager John Dozier and his team really take pride in what they do and it shows in every aspect!
During our menu sampling we tried the 3 of the most popular sandwiches that Earl of Sandwich offers. The Original 1762 (This was my son Drew’s fave) which is Roasted beef, cheddar & horseradish sauce. The Chipotle Chicken Avocado is piled high with Grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar, avocado, lettuce & chipotle sauce. Yum! And, my hubby’s favorite which was The Holiday Turkey. This delectable sandwich has Turkey, cornbread stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce & mayonnaise. You could say that this is Thanksgiving in a sandwich!
My son Brady who is 4 adored the Macaroni and Cheese and I couldn’t get enough of the Broccoli and Cheddar Soup. Since I am Gluten Free it is so nice to have a restaurant that caters to my needs with delicious foods! In addition to the Broccoli and Cheddar Soup, I also had the Earl’s Cobb Salad which was amazing! This salad is piled with Field greens, grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar, Roma tomato, cucumber, cranberries & ranch dressing. The cranberries with the ranch dressing give it such a wonderful flare! Oh and don’t forget to try the Earl Gray Lemonade. It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
To end the meal, we were treated with some yummy desserts which include Brownies made with Ghirardelli Chocolate and Fresh Baked Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal and Sugar Cookies! Delish!
If you are in Tampa, be sure to head over to International Plaza and check out the all new Earl of Sandwich. Please tell manager John and his crew that Heather from My Sweet Savings sent you!
