Heart Disease. Those words are only too familiar to many of us. Whether we have been personally affected or know of someone who has been touched by this disease, it is a topic that we all need to educate ourselves in. The American Heart Association is bringing awareness to this disease with a dedicated mission. The Mission? “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Our mission drives everything we do.”

This past Saturday November 15, I had the privilege to attend the opening ceremonies of the American Heart Association’s Tampa Bay Heart Walk. There were over 35,000 people in attendance making it the Fourth largest walk in the nation!

The largest sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Tampa Bay Heart Walk was HSN. They raised over $325,000 and recruited nearly 500 walkers for the cause. Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSNi, a strong supporter of this cause, was named as the 2015 Heart Walk Chair during the event.

HSN has a passion for helping others on the local and national level with HSN Cares. HSN Cares is dedicated to empowering women and helping families in times of need. Together with trusted organizations and volunteers, the program is able to make a difference with hope, love and support. In addition to providing local assistance and support to the Tampa Bay chapter of the American Heart Association, HSN Cares provides national support to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity International and U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

I had the privilege to meet several people who were participating in the American Heart Association’s Tampa Bay Heart Walk in honor of those who have been personally affected by Heart Disease. One of the hosts at HSN, Bill Green, personally raised over $20,000 for this event and was walking in memory of his mother.

This is such a wonderful cause and I am happy to help spread the word about how we can help to make a difference! If you are not familiar with HSN Cares or the American Heart Association, I encourage you to check them out to see how you too can make a difference!
