My $40 Grocery Challenge: Week 3!!

If you remember from last week’s grocery challenge, I still had $13 left from the week to combine with this week’s $40. So, for this week’s total cash grocey budget I had $53. I did not do as well as previous weeks, but did manage to snag a few goodies! 🙂

First of all, there are several things not pictured that I did pick up at Walgreens. I actually made 2 trips there this week. On my first trip which is not pictured I got :

–4 boxes of Macaroni and Cheese on sale for .59 each with in-ad Wags coupon

-stacked with B3G1 coupon from the 12/13 SS insert = $1.77

–4 bags of Quaker Cheddar Rice Cakes (Drew and I love these-so yummo!)

-on sale for .99 each

-used 4 .75/1 coupons from 1/10 RP

=. 96 for bags!

–1 Arizona Diet Green Tea w/Ginseng (love this Green Tea!)

-in ad coupon for .59

=.59

–4 Tampa Trib newspapers = $4 (I don’t usually include them in my budget, but because I had so much extra this week, I went ahead and picked them up with my cash)

Total for first trip not pictured = $7.32 spent from my cash grocery budget.

My second trip to Walgreens yesterday along with a Publix trip are what you see pictured. Here is what I got:

Walgreens

4 more boxes of Mac and Cheese (same scenario as above) $1.77

1 more Arizona Green Tea (same as above) .59

2 more bags of Quakes @ .99 each minus 2 .75/1 coupons = .48

2 bags of whole grain Tostitos = $5.00

1 jar of Tostitos Creamy Spinach dip @ $2.50 minus FREE coupon when you buy 2 bags of chips = FREE

minus 1 $3 Register Reward that was expiring

= 4.84 spent from my cash grocery budget.

Publix

–2 bottles of One A Day Scooby Doo Vitamins @ $5.69 each minus 2 $2/1 coupons from the 1/3 RP stacked with 1 $5/2 Publix coupon from the Green Advantage flier = $2.38 for 2 bottles of vitamins! (I really needed these and since I had so much budget left for the week, I grabbed them!)

–2 bags of Kraft 2% shredded cheese @ 2 for $4 minus 1 $1/2 IP coupon (sorry, link no longer available) stacked with 1 $1/2 Publix coupon from the 1/3 SS insert = $2 for 2 bags of cheese!

–2 bottles of Sundown vitamins @ $2.99 and $3.59 each minus 2 $1/1 manuf. coupons from the 1/3 SS insert stacked with 1 $6/2 Publix coupon from the Green Advantage flier = FREE plus overage!!

–1 bottle of Grated Parm cheese-no coupons but needed it for my homemade meatballs for Drew’s birthday dinner! = $2.19

–2 1/2 gallons of Chocolate Lactaid Milk @ $3 each = $6 I already have one unopened carton of this in the refrigerator, but because this milk is usually almost $4 for a half gallon and the expiration date is not until March, I grabbed some more! 🙂

Total spent at Publix out of my cash grocery budget = $13

Total cash left for the week: $28

So, after all 3 trips to Walgreens and Publix, I spent roughly $25 and I still have almost $27 left for the week of my grocery cash! While this week was not as great as previous weeks, I was able to stock up on vitamins and milk and a few other things that are typically pricey.

I do need laundry detergent and dishwashing soap, but after I purchase those 2 things, I should be able to save at least half of my grocery budget that I have left to combine with next week’s $40!
