**Thrifty Thursday Tips**

With the holidays quickly approaching, I thought that it would be fun to start a new piece on Thursday called Thrifty Thursday Tips! From now until Christmas the tips will be holiday-related! 🙂

Once again, I would really love to hear your feedback! I need for you to email me your favorite thrifty gift ideas for the holidays!

My Thrifty Thursday tip for today:

I really love homeade gifts that are practical, don’t you? I found an awesome cookie-in-a-jar recipe that is sure to impress all the people on your gift list! You can find alot of these ingredients when there is a great sale! Stock up now so you can have some extra special and thrifty gift for everyone on your list!

-This Christmas Cookie-In-A-Jar recipe comes from the Taste of Home website

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/8 tsp. baking soda

1/8 tsp. salt

1 cup quick-cooking oats

1 cup dried cranberries (I am sure you could substitute raisins as well)

1 cup of white chips (You could probably substitute chocolate chips as well)

ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS FOR WHEN YOU MAKE THE MIX OUT OF THE JAR:

1/2 cup melted butter

1 tsp. vanilla

1 egg

DIRECTIONS:

In a 1 qt. glass jar, layer the sugar and brown sugar, packing well between each layer.Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and spoon into the jar. Top with oats, cranberries and chips. Cover and store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

TO PREPARE COOKIES:

Pour cookie mix into a large bowl; stir to combine. Beat in egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Drop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until browned.

YIELD: 3 dozen cookies

This is not only a thrifty tip for the holiday season, but it is also a wonderful way to get your kids in the kitchen with you! I can ‘t wait to have Drew help me put these together!
