Thrifty Thursday Tip! Yummy Brickle Recipe!

Since the holidays are quickly approaching I will be posting some of my favorite and inexpensive holiday recipes for the next few weeks.

This recipe today comes from my friend Teresa at church and is so yummy!

You will never guess that the base of the dessert is saltine crackers and everyone will be aksing you for the recipe, I promise!

Homeade Brickle

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup real butter (I don’t recommend substituting)

about 2 sleeves of saltine crackers

1 12 oz. package of semi-sweet chocolate chips

-Preheat your oven to 350 degrees-

-Line a jellyroll type pan with aluminum foil and spread out saltine crackers evenly.

In a saucepan, melt butter. Add brown sugar and boil for about 3 minutes. Pour mixture over saltine crackers and bake in the oven for about 5 minutes.

Once you have removed the crackers from the oven, immediately spread the chocolate chips on top and smooth out evenly with a spatula.

At this point, you may also add your favorite candy bar toppings, nuts, or coconut! 😉

Place in the refrigerator to let the brickle harden. Once the brickle has hardened, break into pieces and enjoy!

I promise you, that you will LOVE this! It is so delicious!
