~*Tis’ the Season for Giving: Share your Stockpile!~*

~~~What a wonderful time of the year this is with all the hustle and bustle of a
ll the holiday parties, cookie exchanges, Christmas programs, and other things going on! ~~~
Let’s not forget that this Season is not just for getting presents, but
rather, this is a wonderful time of the year to give to those people in need as well.
Do you have a large stockpile of items just sitting in your cabinet like me? Well, this is the perfect time of the year to share them! There are many food pantries, homeless shelters, women’s centers, etc… that really need products like toothpaste, deoderant, shampoos, conditioners, toothbrushes, etc…. Why not share some of what you have to help those in need? It really does make you feel so good too, just knowing that you are making a difference in the life of someone else.
Also, do you have a missionary closet or food pantry at your Church that could benefit from some of your stockpile? I am honored to be helping in the starting of a missionary closet at my Church–I will be donating alot of my extra goodies to it this year!
Don’t forget to pick up those FREE things that you think you’ll never use! You can always donate them to someone in need! There are many times that I pick up items at CVS, Walgreena, or the grocery store that I would never use. I just put them in my stockpile because I know that there is someone who will be able to use them! For example, you know those diabetic monitors that are always on sale at CVS and Walgreens? There are always coupons in the newspaper that make them FREE! I don’t need them but there are several people at my Church who are diabetic, so I take them and give them away! It did not cost me anything, and I am able to help someone else in need!
Have fun GETTING gifts this Holiday season, but also remember to GIVE some of your extra goodies to those around you in need–you will be blessed far over and beyond what you could ever imagine! I promise!
Decorating your home on a budget: My beautiful .99 wall lettering!
Do you love to decorate your home? If you are like me, I love to scour through decorating magazines to get new ideas to experiment with! Sometimes I will look at an idea in a magazine and think to myself, “How can I do this same idea, but for much cheaper?” I also am a big fan of HGTV–many of the shows on there will show you how to decorate for basically nothing!
Have you seen those beautiful wall lettering designs that are so popular right now? There are a couple of high-end websites that sell nothing but wall lettering. This is such a beautiful idea, but it can be on the expensive side.
I had really been wanting to try out this wall-lettering idea in my condo, when my friend Kristi invited me into her house. She had some of these cute wall phrases on her walls and told me how easy it was to apply them! Believe it or not, these are just vinyl letters! Kristi told me that she found her lettering at Kohl’s for very inexpensive–she actually gave me a phrase for my living room that says–Family one of God’s masterpieces–It is done in black and white and just exquisite looking! I will have to take a picture when I get that one up.
Well, one day I was at Kohl’s (my favorite store–hubby says that I have an addiction-LOL!) and looking in the Clearance section of the Home Decorations. Lo and behold, I found a package of lettering that says–Scatter Sunshine. It was only $5.99 and I had a $5 coupon so I got it for .99! I was so excited to put this up in my kitchen. Here is the finished product, and I think it looks really cute! I put it in a space that was just kind of a blank canvas–now, it is cheerful!
Don’t forget to check the clearance section at your favorite store. You never know what kind of gem you just might find for decorating your home!
I will have to tell you some more of my decorating finds at a later date, but I just wanted you to see that decorating your home does not have to be expensive!
Have fun watching HGTV and reading your favorite decorating magazines! 🙂
